Hey Moms! This one's for you! I'm a Stay-at-Home Mom and I know the feeling of staring at walls that you want painted, furniture you want rearranged, bathrooms you want redecorated or retiled, yards you want cleaned up. I get it. I've spent the past ten years dreaming up Just Get Me Started. Throughout the many many many DIY home improvement projects I've started and worked on, I found myself saying, “I don't want to hire someone to do the job, I just want to hire someone to “just get me started.'”

I don't need someone to tile my bathroom, I need someone to tell me how to get the tiles straight. I don't want someone to redecorate for me, I just want someone to help me a bit with color or fabric choice...maybe even help me make curtains... I don't need a professional landscaper, I just need someone to tell me if this is a shade plant. I don't need a personal shopper, I just need someone to have vetted stores and point me in the right direction. I just need someone to help me a bit. At the beginning. To just get me started.

Basically I have wanted a knowledgeable friend who will give me the encouragement, enthusiasm, and courage to give a project a go. I know the hardest and most daunting part of the project is just getting started. It's awful. It's scary and overwhelming. But I've spent ten years researching and scoping out every home improvement, tile store, flooring store, kitchen remodeling store, stonework yard, gardening center, … you name it, I've been there. I've talked and researched and tried about any project. And this is what I'd like to offer:

I want to get you started on whatever project has been staring you down....the walls, the ugly bookcase, the unkempt flower garden, the saggy couch, … You can do it, really. You can. I can help walk you through what it would take to do it. I can tell you obstacles, considerations, and limitations. I can advise what it may be better to hire out for and what you can tackle yourself. I can tell you where to go, how to save money, and steps to take. I can help you plan the project. I can give you a detailed plan. I can lend my tools, I can help teach you tools, I can cut stuff for you. Whatever is holding you back from getting started...we can conquer together.

Want to learn skills? That's another aspect of Just Get Me Started. I can help create classes to empower and promote skill, hobby, and interest development. Want to learn quilting? I can teach you. Want to learn watercolor? I'll find someone to teach a class.

At Just Get Me Started, I want you to think of me as a partner in whatever project you'd like to embark on. I'll be there to help you, inspire you, and encourage you. We can transform your living space. We can do it on a minimal budget. I'll meet with you to discuss the project. We'll discuss, we'll brainstorm, we'll figure out how to get it done.

We don't need to wait until our kids are grown up in order to enjoy our space, our homes, our sense of self. We can work together to do it today. We can tackle the project together and emerge as more knowledgeable, dynamic, empowered women. Let's get to it, let's just get started.

To discuss your project and pricing information, please email: JustGetMeStarted.diy@gmail.com I want to be fair to those who are budget-minded, as well as to myself, so we'll work together to find a price that works for the both of us. I hope you'll feel empowered to embark on a new learning opportunity.
